Android vs. Apple. The competition between these two is pretty fierce. It is one of those divides is you either like one or the other not both. I am going to talk about my transition from Android to Apple, and why I can never go back to Android. I know I may get some hate because of it, but I guess that is just the way that works. All of you in the Android camp, don’t worry, there will not be any bashing here. I still have Android love.
Blackberry: Where It All Began
My very first smartphone was a Blackberry Curve. When I purchased this phone, I thought I was professional. Businessmen and people of importance carried this phone. I thought it was cool to have my email at my fingertips and I loved BBM. Battery life on a Blackberry was nothing short of amazing. Then the Blackberry Tour came on the scene. I had to have it. The Tour was a little bigger, and it had a nicer exterior, and it was MUCH faster than the Curve. The Curve seemed like the entry level Blackberry. The Tour was “professional.” I didn’t mine choppy apps, video, and a slow processor.
I worked at Radio Shack part time for about a year. Working at Radio Shack really opened up my eyes to the world of cell phones. I was selling them, that probably forced me to test them all.
Android Has Been Discovered
My first experience with an Android was with a demo Motorola Cliq and a MyTouch 3G. I carried these around while I was at work, and saw how well they played videos and how much faster they were than my Blackberry. For those of you who may not be tech savvy, those two phones are Android phones.
Although I missed BBM, I only had a few friends that I used it with, and found there were more pros to Android than Blackberry. I kissed Blackberry goodbye. Hello Android.
I bought a Motorola Cliq. I loved it, although the battery life was terrible I didn’t care. There were so many apps, video was amazing, and it was so much faster.
The next amazing phone was the HTC EVO 4G. I was one of the lucky few to get one the day it came out. This phone was amazing. It was beautiful and big. I had a couple of accessories, but the main one needed was a charger. This beauty needed one EVERYWHERE. Every room, in the car, at work, at my girlfriend’s house, and anywhere I was going to be more than 2 hours.
I called the EVO God’s phone. My friends thought I was crazy. They just didn’t get it. Deep down while I am loving Android, I was secretly having Apple thoughts. I felt I was cheating on Android. I dreamed of having more apps to choose from, better battery life, and ITunes on my phone. I did have an IPod. I was growing tired of having to carry them both. This was especially true while I was in the gym.
I battled with it because I liked the Android market. Some apps such as Angry Birds was free. It is not on IOS. I have There were apps that I purchased on Android that I didn’t want to give up that were not on IOS. Yet I have almost 100 gigs of music in ITunes that I wanted to have available without carrying two devices. (I know there is no 100 gig IPhone). I just wanted everything I needed on one device.
Here I Come IPhone
The IPhone 4S was being announced with SIRI. I had also read about ITunes Match coming down the pipes also. It was time to make the switch. I purchased an IPhone 4S. It was amazing yet difficult switch. All of my contacts did not transfer, even though I did have an IPod I had to familiarize myself with the Apple “ecosystem.” It took me about 2 weeks to become comfortable with the phone.
The reasons I would never go back to Android are:
- Better battery life
- Everything is in one system=carry only one device
- Larger App store than Android market
- Vast amount of accessories one could ever want
- Phone phone. One company.
These are important to ME. Your opinion may be different. There is only one Apple and one IPhone. There are many different phone manufacturers and many different Android phones. With that said, I am more than satisfied with my IPhone 4S. It may not run on 4G, have a 4.3inch screen, and it is locked down. It is by far the best phone I ever owned.
What is your preference and why?

I like my iPhone, but I loved my Android phone… I miss being able to personalize almost everything about my phone. I miss the way I could put anything on my home screens, not just apps. I liked having widgets on my phone that gave me easier access to programs I used alot. I miss my alarm clock. It sounds dumb, but the alarm clock on the iPhone is eh… and all the alarm apps I’ve downloaded haven’t worked unless I kept the app open when I went to sleep. I’m sure there are more, but those are the things I miss the most… sorry iPhone
